THE GREEN LEGION INVADES HOUSTON, OCTOBER 31ST – NOVEMBER 3RD, 2014!! In fine Green Legion fashion, in the midst of a citywide “Quilt” convention (I want to party with those ladies), we have still managed to put together one hell of a “swanky” package for you! First, let me tell you about Houston…Eight years ago when I went down there the first time, there was nothing that really impressed me. Fast forward to last week when I went down to site-inspect once again, and what a difference an NFL out of conference cycle can make! I cannot describe the last time I was in a city and in an area where the nightlife was as awesome as this was. Our good friend of the program Craig Conner, from the HEN (Houston Eagles Nest), with direction from our other good friend Randall Moye, we found ourselves in Mid-Town with some of the coolest places I have ever been to. As we get further down the road, I’ll describe to you the places and the scene. I just want to keep our competition from calling on these places right away. They are going to be our little secret for a while. Houston is known for its nightlife and food and I’m not sure which one is better. You have everything you come to expect from a Texas barbecue but in addition, Tex-Mex is everywhere and it’s some of the best I’ve ever had. We will be giving you some great discounts at some of these local hot spots along with specials at these great bars! Like I said, more to come on that in the future! Why travel with The Legion? Because for 11 years, we have gone out of our way to find what we think YOU will love when you head to another city. We have FOUND that in our hotel for this trip! And had I not walked around the streets of downtown Houston last week for an entire day, I would have never found this place and hence, neither would you. I am thankful to say we will be staying at the Magnolia Hotel!! You know those cool, swanky, boutique hotels you walk into that immediately make you feel like they try harder than others? This is that hotel! Not only is this place about a half-mile from all of our entertainment, but they come with their own! Anyone remember the FIRST trip we took? The Whitelaw Hotel in South Beach? We had a 1-hour happy hour each day we were there, complimentary. Well, the Magnolia takes it one step further. NOT ONLY IS THERE A COMPLIMENTARY BEER AND WINE HAPPY HOUR DAILY, BUT BREAKFAST IS FREE EVERY DAY!! It is a breakfast buffet that includes eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, grits, oatmeal, cereal, and fruit!! A nice little pop considering between the two, if you have three drinks at each happy hour and you take advantage of the breakfast three mornings, you are looking at saving yourself about $100 right there! I already know where our Pep Rally Party will be and I want to let you in on a little known Houston secret…SPEC’S!! And no, I’m not making fun of Puerto Ricans here you jackasses!! I’m talking about the liquor store to end all liquor stores!! “Ever hear of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?! Yes. Morons!” “Ever hear of Canal’s? Yes. Morons!” A little Princess Bride reference for our fans out there. Imagine your happy hour was FREE EVERY NIGHT AFTER your free one at the hotel!! Spec’s looks like a Vegas casino and has FREE samples down every aisle! It’s the coolest thing a functional alcoholic has ever seen!! Oh, and yes, we will have a Halloween Costume Contest and I won’t wear the reaper suit. More details to come on that train wreck concept with the greatest holiday of the year on Friday!!
