THE GREEN LEGION INVADES THE BAY AREA, OCTOBER 15TH-19TH, 2009!!! We have done this before and we are going to do it again!! What most people don’t realize is that the bay area’s summer is September and October. The weather is perfect. It doesn’t rain. The temperature is perfect! And for those who have never been, San Francisco is The Legion’s favorite city to travel to. There are more things to do and places to see out here than you can imagine. Let’s break it down. First, this game is in Oakland. We are going there on Sunday. We won’t be there any other time! We will stay in Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco where we have been 2 out of the last 3 years! The Wharf is AWESOME! If you like seafood and cool outside bars overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island, this is your place to be! One of the Legion’s favorite watering holes is Knuckle’s Sports Bar! It’s one block from our hotel, the Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/sfofw-san-francisco-marriott-fishermans-wharf/)!! Number 5 rated best sports bar in the country!! We will crawl on Thursday night when we get there! Great bars set up for this already! We will make Knuckle’s our party spot Friday night! Finally, our Pep Rally party will take us to the Height District to our Friend of a Feather Eagles bar, Kezar’s!! They welcomed us last year and we look forward to doing it again! Friday day will see us do another Green Legion Winery Tour! This is awesome people. Three wineries and getting smashed all day in Napa and Sonoma! This part of the trip is NOT included in the package price but most people elect to do it. Should be around $60 for 9 hours of wine drinking! Saturday day we will have an Alcatraz Island tour set up! If you haven’t seen it, you should. It’s definitely cool and a bit strange. Sunday is game day and it will see us invade Raider Nation! Our tailgate’s in San Fran and Oakland are always catered by my friend Nate Thurmond, NBA Hall of Famer. “BIG NATE” has without question the best barbecue we use! Beef brisket, pork ribs, and barbecue chicken are the mainstays of this tailgate and the only problem is we never seem to have enough napkins!! Then, we dive into the Coliseum with your lower level end zone seats in the 100 and 200 levels. I am keeping us all together here to assure our strength in numbers!
